Authors Den

I have had a membership at Authors Den for awhile now, but recently, I decided to add it to my marketing toolkit. While I can't say for sure that it is driving people to my personal site, it is DEFINITELY getting my work read and giving me an idea on what is appealing to those who are doing so.

Here is the result of my two-week stat tracking.....

I started on September 24 with 776 hits overall. This was as a regular old member, and included all the work I had listed to that point.

I watched the page, and decided a few days later that the discount offer to try the premium account until the end of the year was worth it. So I upgraded to Gold. This was on September 28. By the end of that day, my hits were at 927.

For the rest of the pilot two weeks, any time I saw on the front page that all my new post announcements had dropped off the list (this is a Gold member feature--notice of your posts) I would post something new, usually a poem.

Last night, at the end of the two weeks, despite the fact that we went out of town Friday night, and didn't get back until Sunday evening, my overall hits were 1245.

This is a growth of almost 500 hits in 14 days. Plus the fact that my poetry is getting solid response reviews, and I am seeing a trend of what to include in a new collection.

If you are an author and aren't a member of Authors Den, you are selling yourself short on a great way to get your work noticed....

And no, I am not a paid spokesman---lol. Though I did just renew my Gold membership for next year. :)
